The Prince of Wales Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in Brazil

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, as announced by royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a event ahead of the climate summit, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The King and Prince were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a long-time champion of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America ahead of the UN meeting.

Official representatives have characterized William's involvement at the next COP as taking on an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were greeted attendees such as conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.

This involvement included speaking together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

The climate conference will coincide with the prince's own sustainability recognition program, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the day before he attends the COP summit on the sixth of November.

In recent days the William referred to the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

The King has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the existential threats confronting humanity over planetary heating, climate change and ecological decline," the King told delegates.
